Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoon butter or oil
  • 1 tablespoon onion, sliced
  • 1 green cardamom (optional)
  • 1 small piece of cinnamon (optional)
  • ½ cup rice
  • ½ teaspoon salt or according to taste
  • 1 cup hot water
  • ½ cup dried jewel fruits, cut into pieces (apricot, golden raisin, cranberry)

Instructions:

  1. Wash rice and drain all water.
  2. In a deep pan, heat butter or oil. Add the onion slices and fry till slightly golden.
  3. Add rice, cardamom, cinnamon and fry about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add salt and the hot water. At the sight of the first bubble, reduce heat to low.
  5. Add the fruits, cover the pan and cook until desired softness is achieved depending on your child’s taste.
