Kid Friendly Egg in a Hole
A super easy breakfast to make with the kids.
Ingredients:
- 1 slice of bread (white, wheat, whole grain – we used whole grain white)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
- Cut a 2-inch round from the center of the bread. Melt the butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place the slice of bread in the pan and toast lightly, about 1 minute. Crack the egg into the hole and season with salt and cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Add more butter as needed to crisp the bread. Flip the egg, season with salt and pepper. Cook another 2 minutes for a runny yolk, or slightly longer for a set egg. Serve hot.
